When a patient is dealing with a life-limiting illness, hospice care creates an extra layer of care and support for patient and family. Hospice care does not focus on curing an illness, but on providing patients and family with comfort and dignity. The SVNA hospice team helps patients experience the highest possible quality of life, even as they are approaching the end of life’s journey.
SVNA’s Hospice Program provides physical care, emotional support, expert pain and symptom management, spiritual support and the companionship of specially trained volunteers for patients and their families. We also provide bereavement support for families who have lost a loved one.
With hospice care, the patient’s doctor stays in control but the hospice physician can also step in and help at any time the doctor is away or not available. Our hospice care team works with the patient and family to make each day the best it can be.
Our hospice care is available wherever you are – in your own home in an assisted living community, long-term care facility, or hospital.
Hospice care is covered by Medicare, Medicaid, and many private insurance plans. Financial assistance is available through contributions from our community and other generous donors.
